Zilz, I'd love to hear about those badges. Yes, I've worked in radiochemistry too, and the safety stories from the labs of the 1970s make me feel lucky to be alive and even luckier to have two kids who are ... well, somewhat normal.

Ada. A pipette is a tube of glass used for transferring liquid from one place to another, similar to putting your finger on top of a straw when your drink is still in it, then emptying the straw someplace else.

With chemicals, it's not so great to use your mouth to suck the chemical into the pipette, so these blue bulbs provide an alternate method of suction. The green things do the same thing, with a wheel for suction and a lever to let the liquid out. Quite ingenious.

Pipetting by MOUTH? Yikes. Only one of many scary health and safety stories I am sure you or I could related about the field of science. Someday I will tell you about the "radioactivity detection badges" (read: someone bought these in a gumball machine) that they used to make us wear at the old Niehls Bohr institute in Denmark....

I got to a point during the early 1970s where I could distinguish one acid from another (hydrochloric, nitric, and sulfuric) merely by taste. I have a feeling that experience is somehow related to my current dental woes.

I always hated doing that! Especially when I had to suck the acid up to do an experiment with hydrogen peroxide.

I have a feeling that the inside of the egg sloshed around quite a bit. Not sure if your insides could take such turbulence! Be careful out there.

I am starting to think that you could pull it off. We put the egg in a zip lock bag too, just in case, so we wouldn't need to clean up the mess on the bubble wrap. If you can find a baggie big enough to crawl into, I'm sure somebody could find enough bubble wrap to protect you.
